About the Founder
Laura Carty,
founder | goldsmith | setter | Designer
Laura is the founder of Lubunú and a skilled goldsmith, setter, and designer based in Dublin, Ireland. She studied at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD), specialising in jewellery. It was there that she discovered her true passion at the bench, shaping metal, setting stones, and bringing ideas to life with precision and care.
After graduating, Laura trained and worked around the world, gaining experience in New Zealand, the UK, and the Netherlands. She also had the incredible opportunity to work at Tiffany & Co., where she honed her skills in precision, design, and luxury craftsmanship. Laura further refined her expertise at the prestigious Alexandre Setting School in Antwerp, where meticulous attention to detail is at the heart of every creation. She is currently working towards her Gemology qualification with the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), deepening her knowledge of gemstones and diamonds. Through these experiences, Laura developed a unique approach to jewellery that combines technical mastery with a personal, collaborative experience for each client.
For Laura, Lubunú is more than a brand. It is a space where creativity, craftsmanship, and personal connection come together. She has built the business from the ground up to offer clients a unique, hands-on jewellery experience that is intimate, personal, and unlike anything mass-produced.
The Lubunú Story
Lubunú is the realization of Laura’s dream to create deeply personal jewellery experiences. After years of training and working around the world, Laura works closely with each client from start to finish, involving them in every step of the process, from the initial sketch and gemstone selection to the final piece. With a passion for gemology, gemstone setting, and diamonds, each creation is crafted with care, knowledge, and intention.
At Lubunú, the experience is just as meaningful as the jewellery itself. Clients are invited into a warm, welcoming studio where creativity feels at home. From behind-the-scenes moments at the workbench to gemstone hunts and microscopic glimpses of the craft, the journey is designed to feel exciting, comfortable, and personal. By reimagining treasured, unworn jewellery or creating something entirely new, Lubunú transforms memories into metal and stories into pieces that can be worn for a lifetime.
